Diabetes is one of the most common disorders in which either the pancreas produces insufficient amounts of the hormone insulin or the body cells become resident to the hormone’s effects. Managing diabetes is not very tough if you are quite sincere to your health. Plan your routine and diet and you will wonder how easy it is to tackle diabetes.

Read more on Home Remedies for Diabetes and Diabetes Treatment and also visit on Maintain Blood Sugar Level

The proper diet is essential for diabetic treatment. It helps magically in patients suffering from diabetes. It provides relief from symptoms and various complications in diabetics.

Many diabetic patients can control their blood glucose by losing weight and that is possible only be proper diet. A doctor/dietician chiefly decides the foods to be eaten by diabetics. Because that diet is mainly healthy, interesting and easy to follow. It is no longer a boring diet schedule. People with diabetes are twice the risk of developing heart diseases, so they should reduce the intake of saturated fats, and cholesterol like meat and dairy products that are major sources of satuarated fats. Instead, they should make use of unsaturated and mono unsaturated fats like mostly vegetables oils are high in unsaturated fats and olive oil is a good source of mono unsaturated fat. It is the healthiest type of the fat.

American Diabetic Association recommends that the diabetic person should eat high fibre diet. It has been shown that the foods with fibres, such as fruits, vegetables, peas, beans and whole grain breads and cereals helps in lowering the blood glucose level.

The patients with diabetics should eat green leafy vegetables like Ghiya, Tinda, Tori, Kheera, Cabbage, Lettuce, Muli Palta, Palak, Capsicum etc. He should at tomatoes, bitterguard (Karela), amla powder, methidan powder, Jammu beej powder, Goondkatira (in milk), Garlic. Diabetic patient should have tea without sugar, lemon water (without straining), Clear vegetables and Dal soup, whole pulses, plain aerated water, clear tamarind (imli), water, Jaljeera, coconut water, diluted khatti lassi (buttermilk),

BITTER GOURD:

It is also known as Bitter Melon or Karela. Bitter melon is the English name of Momordica Charantia. It is a green cucumber shaped fruit with gourd like bumps all over it. It look s like an ugly, light green cucumber. It is firm like a cucumber and tastes very bitter. It is used as a food as well as medicine. It grows in topical areas, including parts of East Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and South America. Bitter Melon is chiefly helpful in the treatment of diabetes and psoriasis. The seeds, leaves and vines of Bitter Gourd are used extensively. The leaves and fruit have been used occasionally to make teas and beer, or seasonal soups in the western world.

APPLE:

Apple is the delicious fruit and most of the people enjoy eating apples. It has been found beneficial in the treatment of diabetes because of its rich pectin content. It is a natural ingredient found in the inner portion of apple. It helps in detoxification of the body by providing galacturonic acid which is needed for the elimination of various harmful substances from the body. This food also decreases the body’s insulin requirements. It has been strongly said that “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Apple is one of the wonderful gift of God to man for a healthy diet. Apples are also rich source of potassium. It is also a fighter against dangerous bacteria and viruses. It is one of the oldest fruits that man consume. Apple eaters achieve a good health that non-apple eaters never attain throughout their life.
ARTICHOKE

It is also known as Agathi flower.

Artichoke contains large amount of insulin, hence it is used for the treatment of diabetes. Artichoke also contains large amount of potassium, calcium, iron and sulphur which is required by the body to perform various vital functions.

BENGAL GRAM :

It’s Indian name of Chana. It is an important component of Indian diet. It possesses an anti diabetic properties. These seeds are rich in fibres. They reduces the rate of glucose absorption and also decreases the gastric emptying, thereby preventing the rise in blood sugar levels following a meal. Due to its presence in the body, the cells become more sensitive to insulin and an increase in the number of insulin receptor sites occurs and there is a stimulation of the cell’s ability to burn glucose. It also causes less glycosuria (i.e. passage of sugar in urine), thereby lowering fasting blood sugar levels and also lowers insulin requirements.

Gestational diabetes mellitus is actually a disorder characterized by high blood glucose, which is related to insulin resistance. It can be discovered at any point during pregnancy. This is specifically because there are no known causes for this disease, and many women do not exhibit symptoms. Gestational diabetes mellitus is found only in pregnant women. There is a similarity between gestational diabetes mellitus and Type 2 diabetes.

Because not all pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus experience symptoms, diagnosis can be difficult. This is one reason why screening for gestational diabetes when pregnant is so important. There are a number of tests involved with screening GD when pregnant. These may all be performed on the pregnant woman, or simply a few.

Women, with gestational diabetes mellitus, who do experience symptoms can see a variety.

One of the symptoms is experiencing increased thirst. This is often accompanied by increased urination. Another symptom of gestational diabetes mellitus is nausea and vomiting. Some women even contract infections. The most common is yeast and bladder infections.

The primary purpose for the screening process is to detect if there is a high level of glucose in the expectant mother’s blood. So, samples are drawn in a very specific way. The method, of screening, doctors do to determine if gestational diabetes exists, is very thorough. Some of the testing process is less than fun for the pregnant women. But having the knowledge of her own condition is completely worthwhile.

The screen process is not only important to define the status of the mother, but how it may affect her unborn child. There are three non-challenge blood glucose tests in the screening.

Each has its own individual importance and reading. Testing this way allows doctors to see the difference between a blood glucose reading at different times in a woman’s day. Tests focus on her status when she’s eaten, and when the pregnant woman has not eaten.

One of the non-challenge blood glucose tests is the fasting glucose test. This one is as its name implies. It is done on the pregnant woman when she has not eaten any food. Doctors typically give their patients instructions about how this test will be done. They will also instruct them on what hours, to eat and what hours, they should not.

Another test done to determine gestational diabetes is the 2-hour postprandial test. The postprandial test is done after the pregnant woman has eaten a meal. These results are very specific and have an important meaning. Doctors understand what range a woman’s glucose should be after a meal. If the numbers are too high, at this specific time, the woman is at risk for this disease.

The random glucose test is another test done in the screen process. Just as the other tests this one is time sensitive as well. Blood is drawn and tested for glucose levels. Again, the blood should be within a certain range to receive a normal rating. If the woman’s glucose level is above 126mg after fasting, no further tests are needed. She would be diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a set of related disease in which the body cannot regulate the amount of sugar (specifically, glucose) in the blood.

Glucose in the blood gives you energy to do daily activities, walk briskly, run for a bus, ride your bike, take an aerobic work out class, and perform your day-to-day chores.

Read more on Diabetes Herbal Supplements and Karela for Diabetes and Diabetes Natural Cure

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood sugar (glucose) levels that result from defects in insulin secretion, or action, or both.

Diabetes mellitus, commonly referred to as diabetes (as it will be in this article) was first identified as a disease associated with “sweet urine,” and excessive power loss in the ancient world.
Elevated levels of blood glucose (hyperglycemia) lead to spillage of glucose into the urine, hence the term sweet urine.

Diabetes (diabetes mellitus) is classed as a metabolism disorder. Metabolism refers to the way our bodies use digested food for energy and development.

Most of what we eat is broken down into glucose. Glucose is a form of sugar in the blood – it is the most important source of fuel for our bodies.

When our food is digested the glucose makes its way into our bloodstream. Our cells use the glucose for energy and growth. However, glucose cannot enter our cells without insulin being present – insulin makes it probable for our cells to take in the glucose.

According to the American Diabetes Association, nearly 21 million nation in the United States have diabetes, with about 90 to 95% have type 2 diabetes.

Sugar, in the form of glucose, is the main source of fuel for body cells. The hormone insulin allows glucose in blood to enter cells.
In type 2 diabetes, either the body doesn’t produce enough insulin or cells are resistant to effects of insulin.

Diabetes Treatment

Natural methods of treatment are also known as Naturopathy. It is the system of medicinal in which diseases are cured by wealth of natural remedies such as light, water, air, heat, exercise, diet and other physiological measures.

According to the father of medicine Hippocrates it has been said that the Nature cures; but not the physicians. Naturopathy is known by different names such as Nature Cure, the natural methods, the new science of healing etc.

Healing by natural method is seen since many years near about back over two thousand years. Naturopathy makes use of a new life style with corrective habits such as exercise and a good diet.

Home Remedies for Diabetes

1. The juice of Margosa is a cooperative natural home remedy for diabetes.

2. String bean pod tea is a superb natural Home Remedy for Diabetes and can be substituted for insulin.

3. Eat 10 fresh fully full-fledged curry leaves each morning for three months. It avoids diabetes due to genetic or heredity factors.

4. Including grapefruit in the diet is an stupendous natural home remedy for diabetes.

5. Take two teaspoons of pulverized Fenugreek seeds with milk. Two teaspoons of the seeds can also be consumed whole, every day.

6. Take juice of bilva and parijataka leaves in the same parts for natural remedy of diabetes.

7. Eat grapefruits frequently for diabetes natural remedy.

8. Boil 3-4 fresh leaves of mango tree in the dawn and drink. It is also very effecting in curing diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. People develop type 2 diabetes because the cells in the muscles, liver, and fat do not use insulin properly. Eventually, the pancreas cannot make enough insulin for the body’s needs. As a result, the amount of glucose in the blood increases while the cells are starved of energy. Over time, high blood glucose level may hurt eyes, kidneys, nerves or heart.

Finding out you have diabetes is creepy. But don’t panic. Type 2 diabetes is serious, but people with diabetes can live long, healthy and happy life

Food and Drug Administrateion(DA) approved a new diabetes medication, Januvia, the first in a new class of drugs called DPP-4 inhibitors.

Januvia helps your pancreas make more insulin and tells your liver to make less sugar. This new medication, coupled with proper diet and exercise, allows the body to produce the proper amount of insulin to handle high blood sugars after meals.

Byeta is typically prescribed for patients who have already failed to obtain effective blood sugar control on at least one or two other diabetes drugs. It is usually given in combination with other oral diabetes medications, or even with insulin, in some cases.

The effect of both the drugs is quite same which means higher levels of GLP-1 in the body which lowers the chances of hypoglycemia and helps in the reduction of weight. Januvia is not the medication for type 1 diabetes or for patients with diabetic ketoacidosis. And if you having kidney related problem then your doctor may prescribe lower doses of Januvia.

The development of symptoms of type 1 diabetes occurs very quickly. Sometimes it takes few days, while at times it takes few weeks. These are mainly caused due to the rise of blood sugar levels. These levels rise above the normal range. Sometimes, people may overlook the symptoms. Early symptoms include:
1. Frequent urination. This is very noticeable at night. Children start wetting the bed in spite of the fact they learn using the toilet.
2. A dry mouth and extreme thirst.
3. Weight loss
4. Increased hunger
Sometimes one may experience a rise in blood sugar levels. This rise may be all of a sudden. The main reason for this is that insulin is not available. The cells in the body do not get glucose which is needed for energy. The muscles and fats are broken down by the body for energy. When fats are broken down for energy, fatty acids and ketones are produced and they enter the bloodstream.

This causes chemical imbalance diabetic ketoacidosis. This condition is very life threatening. The symptoms of this condition are hot, flushed and dry skin. Apart from that the symptoms include,
1. Abdominal pain, vomiting and loss of appetite
2. Fruity or strong breath odor
3. Deep, rapid breathing.
4. Drowsiness, restlessness, confusion, coma or difficulty waking up.
The signs and symptoms of Type 1 diabetes come in very quickly. The main symptoms include Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.
1. Frequent urination and increased thirst
Sometimes excess sugar is built up in the bloodstream. Thus, the fluid is pulled out from the tissues. This may leave a person thirsty. As a result, one may drink and urinate more than usual.
2. Extreme hunger
Sometimes, there is insufficient insulin for moving the body into the cells. Thus the energy from organs and muscles is depleted. Thus intense hunger is triggered and this persists even after eating. Without insulin, the sugar in the blood never reaches the energy-starved tissues.
3. Weight loss
In spite of eating more, one tends to lose weight. Sometimes weight loss is very rapid. The fat stores and muscle tissues shrink without the energy sugar supplies.
4. Fatigue
If the cells are deprived of sugar, one may become irritable and tired.
5. Blurred vision
If the sugar level is very high, fluid is pulled out from the tissues. This also includes the lens of eyes. The ability for focusing clearly is affected.

Type 1 diabetes is also known as Diabetes Mellitus and Juvenile Onset Diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is when the body has attacked the pancreas, which contains the cells that produce the hormone called insulin. When the body does this, its natural ability to produce its own insulin is taken away; therefore, requiring the use of insulin injections usually for the remainder of their life.

Insulin injections will be required at each meal time and at bed time. Most Type 1 diabetics take approximately 3-4 insulin injections per day. Diabetes Mellitus is a very serious condition and you will want to receive treatment as soon as you possibly can if you feel as if though you may be a diabetic.

Symptoms- Type 1 Diabetes Symptoms include:

1. Excessive thirst
2. Excessive urination. Really pay attention to see whether you are waking up in the middle of the night to use the restroom.

This can definitely be a tell-tell sign of diabetes.
3. Abdominal pain
4. Fatigue
5. Weight loss. Because the body is unable to use the energy that is being consumed and the sugar is staying in the blood stream, your body will begin to burn energy that it has stored in the form of fat. This is why you will experience weight loss even though you may still have a normal appetite or have not changed your diet.
6. Absence of menstruation
7. Nausea
8. Vomiting

Diabetes affects each patient in different ways. If you look in the various publications that are available about diabetes there are actually many different symptoms. Just because one patient may experience one symptom does not mean that the same symptom will be prevalent in another patient.

The above 8 symptoms are just the common symptoms that are experienced by Type 1 diabetic patients.

These are the symptoms that are usually seen and can be associated with Type 1 diabetes more so than any other symptom.

Keep in mind that you could experience more than one of these symptoms and the symptoms could take a period of time to develop. In other words, you could experience the increased thirst symptom and then a month later start experiencing the excessive urination.

This means that you have basically been diabetic for a month without receiving medical treatment and this can lead to a dangerous situation. So, to be safe, when you start experiencing the first symptom of Type 1 diabetes you need to inform your physician as soon as possible so that they can schedule a glucose tolerance test to accurately determine whether you are a diabetic or not.

Do not automatically assume that one of these symptoms is related to something else. The truth is you may never know. You must inform your physician as soon as possible because if left untreated, blood glucose levels will continue to rise which can result in a diabetic coma, ketoacidosis and possibly even death. Diabetes is a serious condition and should be taken seriously and treated as soon as possible.

You are the first line of defense when it comes to managing your Type 2 Diabetes. Regular consistent monitoring will help you keep an eye on things to prevent complications in the long run. Measuring glucose levels is the primary monitoring done at home for Diabetes. All diabetics need to have a glucose meter at home and know how to take reading properly. This information is vital to determining if a glucose spike or plummet happens. It also gives vital information on what foods and exercisesaffect those same levels. If you take insulin, these readings help determine the dosage required if you need an injection. You should record all of this information in a journal for you and your doctor’s future reference.

In addition to monitoring your blood sugar levels, you need to monitor your weight carefully if you have type 2 diabetes. Carrying excess weight can lead to higher levels of insulin resistance.

By lowering weight to within the recommended range, you can significantly improve your ability to control your diabetes. Hence, by now taking a weekly body weight measurement will give you an indication of your progress, one way, or the other. Maintaining your current weight is far better than gaining more. However, if you are excessively overweight, you need to drop the weight in order to stave off long-term problems.

It is also important to monitor your blood pressure and cholesterol levels if you have type 2 diabetes. The disease brings a higher risk of heart disease. Your doctor will regularly monitor these numbers. However, if you are dealing with elevated numbers, having tests done more often is not a bad idea. You need to get these numbers under control before you develop severe cardiovascular problems. It may involve dietary changes as well as revving up physical activity. If these changes do not make an impact, your doctor may put you on medication to get them into line.

It is important to maintain a full journal with all applicable information related to your type 2 diabetes. This valuable information is paramount in treating a person’s Type 2 Diabetes. It will show long-term trends in glucose levels as well as give vital information on what foods and activities do to the readings. When you visit your doctor or another diabetes specialist, take your journal with you. Professionals often see trends that you might not. Monitoring at home is very important. Nevertheless, it does not replace the relationship you need to develop with your doctor for long-term success.

The primary cause of pre diabetes is insulin resistance. This condition promotes a disparity between insulin and glucose levels in the blood. This may lead to obesity through an unhealthy lifestyle and eating habit. The condition can no longer be reversed, based primarily on having a more active and healthy lifestyle and shedding off some extra pounds. If the condition is left untreated, it will eventually lead to the development of type 2 diabetes milletus, which cannot be treated, only managed. Diabetes management requires insulin injections done every day in order to maintain blood glucose in normal levels.

Pre diabetes symptoms are similar with full blown type 2 diabetes symptoms, although they vary in a certain degree. Obesity is said to be the leading cause of a pre diabetes symptom. The first sign is the increase in urination wherein the body of the patient is working hard to lessen the excessive glucose produced in the body by flushing it out with water from the cells. This condition is called polyuria. In effect, an increased feeling of thirst is experienced because of the dehydration of the cells. Fatigue and tiredness are also experienced because the glucose particles are not being used up by the cells therefore no energy is produced.

Loss of weight is one sign of pre diabetes symptoms. This is observed in spite an increase in the appetite of an individual for the reason that the body can no longer use up the food particularly the carbohydrate particles, converting them into fat and energy and thereby, they cannot be stored and one tends to shed weight. Due to the reduction in the production of energy by the cells, one also experiences a feeling of being ill. Blurry vision results when the high levels of glucose present in the blood causes water from the lens to go outward, deforming the lens.

What is pre diabetes?
Before diabetes especially Type 2 develops, first there are symptoms of pre diabetes. This can also be referred to a ‘borderline diabetes’ or ‘impaired glucose tolerance or impaired fasting glucose’. This means that your blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes and not high enough to be treated.

Pre diabetes affects millions of people worldwide and besides being the pre runner of full blown diabetes it has the ability to do more damage to the heart and circulatory system than diabetes does. Yet there are ways to determine if diabetes is developing and in doing so can prevent diabetes taking hold. Preventative measures include a pre diabetes diet and losing between 5% to 7% body weight. Exercise plays a vital role too and should encompass 30 minutes a day five days a week.

It is not usual for people under the age of 45 to be tested for pre diabetes, yet if you are overweight it is a good idea or if you have a history of diabetes in the family.

There are also other health conditions that can contribute to diabetes. Testing should be done about every three years but if you have been diagnosed with pre diabetes you should be tested annually.

Symptoms
It is a sad fact that most people don’t know they have pre diabetes until they are dangerously close to diabetes. Pre diabetes symptoms include an elevated blood sugar level higher than normal.

Most people don’t show symptoms of pre diabetes though, but it is scientifically known that apart from elevated blood sugar levels unusual thirst, extreme tiredness, frequent urination and blurred vision can be telling signs.

For your doctor to determine whether or not you have pre diabetes he or she will conduct two different tests.

One is called the ‘fasting plasma glucose test’ and the other is the ‘oral glucose test’. Fasting glucose test or FPG can only be tested after total abstention of food or drink other than water, for a period of 8 hours. If your levels are abnormal after this fast, then it means your body is not able to metabolize glucose correctly.

The oral glucose test measures your response to sugar and is conducted only after the FPG test has been done. A glucose solution is administered orally and after a period of about 2 hours blood sugar levels are tested. Normal levels are less than 140mg/dL while levels between this amount and 199mg/dL suggest pre diabetes. If your levels are higher than 200mg/dL you may already have developed full blown diabetes.

Who should be tested?
If you are overweight with a body mass index over 25
If you have a family history of diabetes
If you are over the age of 45
If you fall in to high risk ethnic groups which are Native Americans, Africans, Pacific Islanders or Latinos
If you have given birth to a baby weighing in excess of 9 lbs
If you have had gestational diabetes
If you have previous had an abnormal blood sugar reading
If you have high cholesterol, hypertension or high triglycerides or
If you lead a sedentary life

Pre diabetes is a warning sign
Medical practitioners use the term pre diabetes to explain the warning signs of diabetes yet also explain it as being an impaired tolerance of glucose which is found in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

It is a misconception that because you have a family history of diabetes that you will develop it yourself. Everyone’s behavior, lifestyle and habits differ which means it can be prevented. Diabetes is not a gene. The key is in prevention rather than reaction. Changing eating and lifestyle habits is not easy and it is for this reason that many blame hereditary factors.

Early symptoms such as pre diabetes although alarming can be misleading. It is possible to suffer from extreme thirst, excessive fatigue and frequent urination without being at risk of diabetes as these symptoms also relate to high blood pressure and high cholesterol. However prevention Is better than cure. If you exhibiting symptoms it makes sense to have them checked out. In doing so you will either put your mind at rest or be given the opportunity of changing your lifestyle before full blown diabetes takes hold.

A type 2 diabetes meal plan should keep your minimum dietary requirements in mind, whilst also catering to your diabetic condition so that you can manage it as well as possible.

There are so many types of foods that you can include in your eating planner. You certainly will not be left craving variety – and if your plan is carried out correctly, you will never feel hungry either.

Knowing The Right Plan For You
Which is the correct meal plan for you? Every diabetic will have slightly different requirements.

The biggest question that gets asked is ‘how many foods should I eat from each food group?’

The best way to be sure you are getting all the foods you eat is to ear a wide variety on a daily basis.

Carbs, Protein and Fats
Fats, protein and carbohydrates are the three main food categories that should exist in a type 2 diabetes diet plan.

Carbohydrates provide glucose which is the energy that your body cells need.

There are 2 types of carbohydrates: complex and simple. Simple carbs are the ones that you want to eat minimally. They include sugars like lactose and sucrose. You will find simple carbohydrates in fruit as well as refined products.

Complex carbohydrates are healthier and are found in vegetables, nuts, beans and whole grains. Your body digests these complex carbs much slower so you get an even supply or energy, rather than a fast hit like with simply carbohydrates. This is essential for a type 2 diabetic and something to keep in mind when preparing your food plan.

Following a proper type 2 diabetes meal plan will make all the difference with your health when it comes to keeping your blood sugar under control.
